• Corning Car Show – The 12^th Annual Corning Car Show last Friday and Saturday, drew many beautiful cars from all around the area and lots of people to town. For Stock Car 1966 & New: 1^st Place, Roger Hamanuca, 2^nd Place Jere Hale, and 3^rd Place Rusty &Stacie Robinett. For Convertibles 1965 & Older: 1^st Prize Richie Arriega, 2^nd Place Colette Young, and 3^rd Place Wanda Crowe. Modified Cars 1949 & Older: 1^st Place Judy Cleveland, 2^nd Place Doug Hasse, and 3rd Place Mike Brown. Modified Trucks 1955 –1965: 1^st Place Sandra Lehman. Stock Trucks 1955 & Newer: 1^st Place Doug Young, 2^nd Place Dan Hamer, 3^rd Place Jerry & Jane Prather. Modified Truck 9154 & Older: 1^st Place Bud Busworth, 2^nd Place Carl Hale, and 3rd Place Robert Irwin. Modified Trucks 1966 & Newer: 1^st Place Mike Hackett, 2^nd Place Ron Warner, 3^rd Place David Margues. Stock Truck 1954 & Older: 1^st Place Pete Camper, 2^nd Place Bill Kerstiens, and 3rd Place Don Garrison. Stock Motorcycles: 1^st Place Dennis Lima. Modified Motorcycles: 1^st Place Earl Reynolds, 2^nd Place Katie Sullivan and 3^rd Place Carl Hamer. Wanda Crowe with her 1960 Hillman won the Mayor’s Choice. Participant’s Choice went to John Hammer for his 1963 Chevy Corvair. Mike Brown won Chamber Choice for his Willys. The Burnout winners are Eric Hammond, Wally Prather and Josh Boles.
• Grand Opening/Corning in the Evening – This Thursday, May 15, at 5:30 pm, Celebration Gardens will host the monthly event and it will also be the Grand Opening for this special event venue located at 5051 Toomes Ave. just one mile north of Solano Street. There will be refreshments and door prizes so bring your business card and come out for a fun evening.
• PremierWest Grand Opening Week – May 13 – 19 is PremierWest Bank’s Grand Opening Week. Today, May 14, is Cookies and Coffee – Come and celebrate and enjoy their freshly baked cookies and fresh coffee. Thursday is Root beer Float Day – Come in between 12 and 2 pm for free Root beer Floats. Friday May 16 is Popcorn and Lemonade Day – Come in between 11 and 4 for free popcorn and lemonade. Next Monday, May 19, is Shred Day – Bring your sensitive documents for shredding by a AAA certified shredding specialist – Chico Shred between 10 am and 1 pm.
