COMMENTS:

Situated in the northern part of the Sacramento Valley, Tehama County has diverse geographical features. Bordered on the east by the Coastal Mountain Range, a rich, low river, plain, fed by the Sacramento River, supports great agricultural diversity.

The rich bottom lands produce a large percentage of the State's almonds, walnuts, and prunes. Olives, peaches, strawberries, and various grain crops are also grown in the favorable climate. With an abundance of good pasture and range land, Tehama County is a very important part of the cattle and sheep industry in Northern California. The vast timberlands, located both to the east and west of the valley, provide a wealth of timber for the various types of lumber operations in the county.

Located on Interstate 5, Red Bluff, the County seat, serves as a county-wide trade area. A network of feeder roads link with I-5, providing the county's manufacturing, agriculture and transportation industries with easy access to vital West Coast markets.

Tehama County, with its variance in elevation, ranging from a low of 170 feet to a high of 8,083 feet, plus its warm summer and mild winters, is a mecca for the vacationer. The Sacramento River, which bisects the county, provides endless varieties of outdoor recreation. The county's foothills and highlands, abundant with deer and numerous types of game birds, are the delight of the hunter.
